Samples of logos, motion graphics, and titles

Most of the clips in this sample were created with Adobe After Effects. They were made for demonstrations in my animation courses, for local events and promotions, as part of film challenges, or as parts of personal projects.

What It’s Like Being Santa’s Reindeer

Most of my free time in 2021 was dedicated to this 15 minute animated video about Santa’s reindeer — who are all female! It was a collaborative effort with the theatre and music department at Owens Community College and made for Project iAm to help promote their Acoustics for Autism event.

Meet Gogar

The emphasis of this basic character animation project was to use phonemes for character speech along with basic body movement and character expressions. This was created as a demo for an animation course but it was fun to create at a personal level as well.

A Demo Reel

My demo reel is just a random fireworks display of clips from multiple projects over the years including hand-drawn pencil tests, 3D type, content that was broadcast on television, promotional content, web animation, and interactive multimedia.

FIX Conference 2019

This animated video was created to present at the Faculty Idea Exchange conference held at Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio on June 7, 2019. The conference was attended by faculty from several Ohio colleges and universities, with the core purpose of sharing best teaching practices.

OLPH Festival 2018

This animated promotional piece was authored in Adobe after Effects and was then shared via YouTube and Facebook to promote our event. I volunteered for ten years as lead chairman for the event and I learned a great deal about leadership during that time. I wrote a case study article about it too!

Animated eCard 2010, Toledo Zoo

This animated sequence was created using Adobe Flash (Adobe Animate as of 2016). It was our annual holiday greeting for 2010 and was sent out to over 60,000 zoo members, donors, zoo staff, and staff at other institutions.

Animation Samples, Arizona State University

This video contains samples of animation projects I completed during my undergraduate degree at Arizona State University. The sequence includes animation and concept art from an interactive game, 3D animations, and still images from 3D modeling projects.

Animation Sketchbook

1 of 55

When I was applying to CalArts for Character Animation way back in the day, they encouraged applicants to fill a sketchbook with gesture drawings studying people and animals in motion to demonstrate strong life-drawing skill, human expressions and posture, along with any conceptual art or illustrations to show the artist’s personal style. I got accepted to CalArts and was euphoric that it would pave the road for a career as an animator at Disney. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend due to heartbreaking financial aid setbacks. There is even more sketchbook art on the Art / Illustration page:
